Only recently did I try bubble tea. At a local shopping center, I noticed a Bubbleology location. There assortment of beverages looked very interesting. So I decided to try them. I picked Taro with Tapioca.
The presentation was nice and the drink was refreshingly different than a commercial soda or chain beverage at a coffee shop.
The next time I was in the area, it was during the holidays. Surprisingly, there was so much business the shop ran out of brewed tea and some supplies. Disappointed, the party I was with decided to wait if we could at least salvage the experience with what they had on stock after the staff brewed some more tea. No go. The staff made the decision to close for the evening because it was late.
Frustrated at not being able to complete the evening after dinner and a walk through the shops, we did a search for any local stand-alone beverage houses in the area. Interestingly enough, there were a few in the area. The location was situated just off the university campus in the city.
Looking at each other, we decided to make the commute and try it out. The décor was counter culture with a hint of hidden treasure art dive. There were paintings and hand drawn art from local artists. The pieces ranged from pop culture and entertainment to tribal and abstract. Some of my favorites were the pieces that depicted superheroes, especially Batman. My party and I were surrounded by sculptures, memorabilia, and art. There was even some in the bathroom! The order counter was embellished with metro style signs and had art work worked into the space as well. The establishment offered rustic pastries and fruit to go with the wide selection of bubble teas and smoothies. We had a lot to choose from.
As we waited, we decided to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere and stay to enjoy our beverages. Our options were to sit and talk amongst the members of our group, start up karaoke on stage or play on the Nintendo game system hooked up to the big screen TV. None of us was particularly good at singing and only one of us could play the piano. Game on! We sank into some comfy chairs, mashed buttons on the controllers, and enjoyed bubble drinks with apple turnovers and muffins. It was a great time and everyone was laughing, including players who were not regular gamers. It was a fun special time to be had. Cheers and hopefully your bubble tea experience is as good or better!
