Well, I have a big day ahead of me Kitty! I have meetings and a presentation. You will of course be a good boy and watch the house?
Michael was a corporate executive in charge of logistics for a major shipping firm. He knew his supply chain like the back of his hand, and the organization was a model of just in time delivery. His reports were meticulously verified and his company slide shows and spreadsheets were professional and arranged perfectly. From all appearances, Michael was the model of boring efficiency and productivity.
At home, that is where things were really interesting. Besides living with his wife, a smart and attractive doctor named Cara, Micheal had an unusual cat named Reggie. Not very unusual you say? Sure, a lot of people have cats. Reggie was special. When only in the presence of Michael and Cara, Reggie could understand what they were saying.
Nah! That only happens in cartoons and cheesy movies, right? Well, this is for real. Reggie comprehends human speech and even more impressively has mastered the ability to speak himself. A bridge between worlds that only meet on the peripherals, Reggie is an intermediary between humans and the world of animals, specifically cats. Reggie can translate what cats are saying and can distinguish what other higher animals are thinking and saying and relate these thoughts to the people who host him in their home.
There is just one thing about Reggie that is a problem. Reggie is a little bit shady. From time to time, Reggie can get into trouble. Considering that he is smarter than many other animals and uses a higher percentage of his brain, Reggie can be a little bit arrogant and under the impression that he can use this to his advantage from time to time.
Reggie is also manipulative. Now granted, Michael and Cara are not aware of his little schemes, such as conning the pizza delivery driver or the fisherman. Reggie uses all of his feline luck to stay in the good graces of his humans. It is not like Reggie is malacious or innately terrible. Reggie just gets in over his head sometimes and lets his curousity run wild.
"Michael. There will be no issues. Scouts honor," said Reggie.
"Reggie. You were not in the Boy Scouts," replied Michael with an eyebrow raised.
"They were not ready for a feline of my unique abilities, and I would have if I could have," answered Reggie.
